Emergency Alert System (EAS)

The new Emergency Alert System (EAS) will be a way to let our customers know of warnings about inclement weather or any other messages from the Federal Emergency Alert System. When a warning is broadcasted by the Federal Emergency Report System it will send a signal to our video system. A warning banner will be scrolling across the screen on every channel informing customers to press the Info button on their remote for a special message from the EAS. Once the customer presses the Info button they will be taken to the 911 Channel where they will hear a warning message from the Emergency Alert System. Examples of warnings could be Winter Snow Advisory, Tornado Warning, Flood Warning etc. Service will work only if a customer is a subscriber to Vernon Communications Digital Video Service.
